Memo. To: Greg O'Connor From: Billy Jack

"When policemen break the law, then there isn't any law - just a fight for survival."

-  Billy Jack*

*Hero of the 1971 movie Billy Jack, which became a counter-culture hit all over the English-speaking world. Billy was part Native American and all Green Beret (until he quit the special forces in disgust at what was happening in Vietnam and returned stateside to get in touch with his indigenous heritage). Billy's mastery of the martial arts, combined with his radical political views, not only made him "right-on" but also right handy when a wealthy rancher, his redneck bully of a son and the corrupt local deputy-sheriff started making life difficult for the troubled kids up at the "Freedom School" on the nearby reservation. The movie's theme-song, One Tin Soldier, may be listened to here.

An excellent point. I find Greg Oconnor annoys me more and more these days. He speaks as if he were the spokesperson of the police, which he is not. I went to his website, they plaster the official police logo all over - trying to reinforce the false image that they speak officially for the side of law and order.

Greg O'Connor doesn't speak for the Police, he's just the mouth for the Police Union.
The Commander speaks for the Fuzz!

Don't knock it too much. The police union is probably the most effective in the country.

Most effective union in the country is the rugby players'. Look at their employment contracts, the envy of any other worker and especially those forced to be independent contractors.

Billy jack was a Hollywood grade black belt . He looked at the red-neck rancher and said "I'm going to kick you right there and there's nothing you can do about it"."A karate chopping messenger of peace".. reminds one of Valerie Morse.

It isn't a movie I wanted to see again, I preferred Dirty Harry.
